Justice Project Beloved Community Quarterly Roundtable: Sharing and Strategizing

This is a moment of reckoning. Violence is thriving here and abroad. Nevertheless, we persist. From Evanston and Skokie, Morton Grove and Park Ridge, and Wilmette and Northbrook, activists are shaping our towns to be just, inclusive, and diverse. Share your latest updates and strategies from your northern suburb on organizing and advocating for the Welcoming Community. Together, we gain inspiration, friends & allies! Join us on Sunday, June 5th, at 3 PM, at Fleetwood-Jourdain, Evanston.

The Justice Project: Beloved Community Virtual Roundtable

Join us Sunday, Feb. 6, at 4 PM! Our Justice Project open quarterly roundtable is an opportunity for north suburban residents who are passionate advocates for social and racial justice to come together. In this gathering, we will also focus on how to ensure that the goals of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice are through-lines that pervade every aspect of local comprehensive plans. Featuring Andrés Tapia of Highland Park, a Senior Client Partner and Korn Ferry’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Strategist, and one of the leading voices in shaping a contemporary, next-generation approach to diversity and inclusion.

The Justice Project: Power-Building Virtual Roundtable

We have progressive momentum since the spring elections. Where do we go from here?

From Evanston to Highland Park and all suburbs in between, grassroots groups have mobilized for a seat at the political table on issues ranging from affordable housing and police accountability, to government transparency.

How do social justice causes get support from elected officials? How do we create a culture of collaboration between grassroots groups and City Hall?

The Justice Project: The March Continues, a regional umbrella for support and action for welcoming, just, and diverse north suburban communities, is hosting this working session for local activists to share strategies and build the movement. We envision this to be the first of quarterly Justice Project regional gatherings.

  • Gain inspiration and ideas from progressive new legislators Trustee Heather Ross (Northbrook) and Alderman Devon Reid (Evanston — invited) and Rick Marsh of the powerhouse new grassroots group Community Alliance for Better Government in Evanston, on changing systems for the better and for good.

  • Hear community leaders share priorities and challenges in a suburban roundtable where you have an opportunity to participate

  • Build community-wide relationships

Together as the Justice Project, we are a force for the Welcoming Community!
